Grants available for students – Application opens on August 23

August 16, 2021

Dear Students,

I am pleased to announce that federally funded emergency grants are available to students again this fall to help ease the financial strain caused by the pandemic. Texas State University will distribute approximately $40 million in emergency grants directly to eligible students for the fall semester through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).

The emergency grants will help Texas State students deal with the financial burden caused by the pandemic and assist with the costs of attending college. We have gone to great lengths to support and care for our students. Since May 2020, we have awarded more than $33 million in emergency grants to students through Bobcat Cares.

The application period for fall 2021 will be open from August 23-September 9. I encourage you to save the dates for these upcoming application periods. Learn more about the emergency grants, eligibility requirements, and how to apply on the Bobcat Cares webpage.

Enrolled full- and part-time students are eligible to receive funds to offset expenses related to any component of the cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, housing, food, books, supplies, and travel expenses to and from Texas State Campuses. The funds can also be used to cover emergency costs due to the coronavirus, including healthcare, mental healthcare, and childcare. According to the revised federal guidelines, enrolled international and undocumented students are eligible to apply for the emergency grants.

I’m grateful we are able to provide these emergency grants to our students. Student success is our top priority, and I know the financial support we’re able to provide our Bobcats makes a difference and helps them stay on track toward graduation.

Sincerely,

Denise M. Trauth
President
