Gratitude from Bobcat Families and Parents

February 25, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

The dedication, compassion, and skill you demonstrate in your roles at Texas State University do not go unnoticed!  In spite of the difficulties our university community experienced last week, parents and family members took time to share their thanks and gratitude for all you did for our students as we coped with the winter storm.  While I know many of us have also responded to those who were concerned and upset, I wanted to share two examples of the several positive messages we have received from families of our students:

Message from Neely Yackel:
“I want to send the most sincere thank you your way for doing such a tremendous job this past week!  When we toured TXST last February to choose a dorm for my son, Brogdon, it just felt right.  I am so glad we made that decision because we have all been so happy this entire year!  This year has thrown many curve balls our way as educators but I feel you and your team have done an outstanding job meeting the challenges.  Thank you to all of you for keeping the students placed in your care safe during this unprecedented winter storm.  I am eternally grateful.”

Message from Jenny Lee, mother of a Texas State student:
“I just want to thank you and TXST for all you have done for the students over this past year with all of these trying events.  I can’t imagine the stress of it.  Hoping for better days ahead!”

I also want to share this heartwarming message I received from a mother whose son graduated in December, 2020.  Her praise extends to so many university departments and is a timely reminder, as we prepare for graduation in May, how much our Bobcat families treasure the opportunity to have in-person commencement ceremonies.

Message from Kristi Murray:
“Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  That doesn’t even begin to express my appreciation of your finding a way for our son to experience live graduation.  It was a special moment for our family and I cannot thank you enough for those memories…  Taking on this huge project with all the restrictions and regulations must have been monumental.  Please let everyone who helped make this a success know they are truly appreciated.  Texas State has been the best decision for our son.  He was educated by the greatest and most compassionate professors.  His experience has been top notch and he has Texas State in his heart.  As a parent, I thank you for always having someone available to pick up the phone when I call.  Every single phone call or email has been responded to with the best customer service and care.  You don’t find that at all universities.  Thank you to the police department for keeping campus safe during some crazy situations over the last few years.  We never worried one bit that you were doing everything you could to keep students safe.  100% confidence in your team.  Thank you to the dining halls for keeping him well fed and happy.  Food is delicious and you can see the pride everyone takes in preparing and serving.  Thank you to the professors and tutors for challenging him and helping him grow academically, while supporting him in those really tough subjects.  Texas State has been a blessing to us and we wish you all health and happiness in 2021.”

I echo the sentiments expressed in these messages wholeheartedly.  Please know how much you are appreciated every day.

Sincerely,

Denise M. Trauth
