A Message from President Denise M. Trauth

December 9, 2020

Dear Texas State University Community,

The end of a semester always brings a sense of fulfillment for courses completed, degrees earned, research advanced, and a university community operating smoothly. However, for this semester end, that satisfaction is even greater.  We are still here, finishing the fall semester with safe on-campus learning and engagement opportunities for our students. Although this semester was different than any other, we finished successfully because of the collective, heroic efforts of our entire Texas State community.

Our faculty did outstanding work reconfiguring instruction and research. Staff found new ways to deliver services to support our students, employees, and university. And our students made it all work, following the safety precautions we put in place, participating in classes on campuses and online, and staying engaged with Texas State even with the necessary social limitations we were forced to put in place. I am excited to celebrate the achievements and determination of thousands of our Bobcats over the next few days. Congratulations to all!

Let’s take some time to recharge, relax, and come back stronger than ever for the spring semester.  Again, it will take all of us taking care of ourselves and others to come back safely. Please become familiar with the expectations for testing and limited social interaction prior to returning to our campuses. You can find that information in Return to Spring Semester Message(s) to studentsfaculty, and staff.  Also, please check your official Texas State email account throughout the break for any updates from the university regarding the spring semester.

I can’t guarantee there won’t be challenges moving forward, but I can promise we will meet them with the same spirit that was so evident this fall semester.  I’ve said it many times over the last few months, but I have never been more proud to be a Bobcat!

May your holidays be full of joy and peace.

Sincerely,

Denise M. Trauth
President
