Welcome Message to Alumni and Friends of TXST

Dear Friends:

There are no words to express the excitement and optimism I feel today as I begin my presidency at Texas State University. In the weeks leading up to today, I have seen firsthand the passion and dedication you – our alumni, partners, and friends – have for this university and for the success of our students. Beth and I are filled with gratitude for the welcome so many of you have shared with us over the past couple of months. As we read your notes of encouragement, we have loved sensing the passion that you have for Texas State! With every passing day, we are growing that same passion for this wonderful school and the life-changing work that has been accomplished by our faculty and staff members over the years.

Beth and I are committed to building on the incredible progress made under Dr. Trauth’s leadership. We cannot wait to begin working with you to continue elevating Texas State as an education, research, and economic engine for our students, community, state, and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. I look forward to partnering with you, along with our exceptional faculty and staff, to continue Texas State’s trajectory and to reach for new heights. In addition to meeting with our on-campus community, Beth and I are working with our University Advancement team to create opportunities for us to engage with you as well. I was always taught not to be a “come here guy,” but to be a “go there guy,” so look for us to be showing up on your home turf a lot in the coming year.
