Progress

  • 2023-2024

    • We have been laser focused on building out the RRC and increasing enrollment to 10,000 students. Fundamental to achieving these goals were three pivotal enhancements:

      • Restructuring the organizational framework of the RRC.
      • Appointing additional leadership and staff exclusively dedicated to the RRC, including a Vice President for the RRC, a Director of Student Success, and a recruiter.
      • Recruiting a new Dean to steer the College of Health Professions.

These enhancements have already begun yielding promising results, with preliminary data indicating a 9.4% increase in enrollment this Spring to 1,864 students.

    • Several recent initiatives are in the process of being implemented to further boost Fall 2024 enrollment:

      • Establishing the Commission on the Round Rock Run to 10K to formulate and implement strategic growth plans.
      • Introducing a general education curriculum, enabling students to complete degrees entirely at the RRC.
      • Adding 11 new undergraduate and graduate degree programs, bringing the RRC’s total degree programs offer this fall to 27.
      • Joining forces with Austin Community College (ACC) on “Bats to Cats,” aiming to significantly increase ACC transfers to both TXST campuses.
    • Ongoing major developments are set to drive additional transformation and goal achievements:

      • Dr. Pranesh Aswath, the new Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, came onboard on February 1, 2024, and has prioritized adding more academic programs offered at the RRC.
      • A ground lease is in place with Johnson Healthcare, pending the outcome of our Veteran’s Affairs clinic application.
      • A sole finalist has been identified for the Lifesciences Research Incubator, and assuming that negotiations go well, design and construction should commence in July 2024 and be completed in January 2026. Community partnerships are currently being aligned with specific academic and research priorities.
      • Plans for Esperanza Hall are progressing, with an estimated construction start of July 2024 and an anticipated completion of January 2026.
  • In Spring 2022, TXST launched a nation-wide search for a Vice President for the Round Rock Campus and revised the organizational structure. Dr. Julie Lessiter became the new vice president in August 2023.
